A 2-day workshop was held on the transfer of good practices for resource management, waste recycling and circular economy

On 28 and 29.02.2024, in the City Art Gallery "Dechko Stoev", the city of Pomorie, a 2-day seminar was held for the transfer of good practices for educational campaigns regarding resource management, waste recycling and circular economy in kindergartens and primary schools. The seminar was implemented within the framework of the project "The next generations in the municipality of Pomorie - more responsible in the use of resources and involved in the transformation to a circular economy through educational, informative and promotional-demonstration measures", Contract No. BGENVIRONMENT-3.001.0012-C01 / 25.07 .2022, financed under the "Environmental Protection and Climate Change" Program, FM of the EEA 2014-2021.
The project is implemented by "Hristo Botev" Primary School, Bata village, in partnership with: International Development Norway AS, "St. Paisii Hilendarski" Primary School, Kableshkovo town and "Srebarno Zvanche" Kindergarten, Stratsin village.
The amount of the BFP is BGN 387,279.31.
The main goal of the project is the development and implementation of various educational campaigns to raise awareness regarding resource management, waste recycling and the circular economy among diverse educational institutions in the municipality of Pomorie (including 12 schools and 7 kindergartens) and among the general public.
A total of 23 teachers from various educational institutions from the municipality of Pomorie were trained at the seminar, including The 8 members of the team for conducting educational campaigns, including teachers from three educational institutions in the municipality of Pomorie: OU "Hristo Botev" - Bata village, OU "St. Paisiy Hilendarski" - town of Kableshkovo and Kindergarten "Silver Bell" - village of Stratsin.
The event was led by the representatives of the partner organization from Norway and allowed the attending teachers to gain knowledge about the national policies for learning the circular economy in the Norwegian education system and to learn about good practices from Norwegian schools.
The content of the seminar included the following topics and activities: Presentation of the project; National Policy Framework for Circular Economy and Sustainability Education in Norway; Circular Economy and Climate Change in Norwegian School Curricula; Norwegian good practices for sustainability in education ('Climate School', out-of-school education programme, learning centres); Overview of learning resources in Norway; Green Flag Program - sustainability certification for schools; Mini-innovation camp - group work based on the Norwegian program; Evaluation of experience, learning outcomes and their adaptation.
The participating teachers participated actively and with marked interest in the practical part of the seminar, in which ideas were generated about how to adapt the presented good practices from the Norwegian education system to the local schools in the municipality of Pomorie.
The new knowledge acquired by the teachers will allow more effective future work in kindergartens and primary schools on the topics of resource management, waste recycling and circular economy. This will also be an important step for the formation of next generations in the municipality of Pomorie who are more responsible in the use of resources and involved in the transformation towards a circular economy.
